Comments: Perhaps a year or two into the Horizon series I introduced a star motif into some of the horizons. Sometimes very loud and direct as here and sometimes with great subtlety or combined with other elements. Unlike the horizons with squares the stars were very popular and I seemed to be able to sell almost every one of them that I drew. I could not however make myself just crank them out to try and make a buck. (Well, ok, I did it a few times but it got old very fast). I think the star on the horizon taps into something archetypal. It is a kind of universal symbol of transcendent spirituality yet one that is free of associations with any one particular religious tradition.
